As many of you know, the MSD, APG and Racepak brands have a number of employees participating in a variety of motorsports. Over the recent Labor Day weekend, the Racepak, MSD and APG brands were well represented and well branded at the largest drag racing event in the world, the NHRA U.S. Nationals, in Indianapolis, Indiana, through Aaron Alison (Executive VP of Technology – APG) and Cameron Ferre (Digital Marketing / New Product Execution - Racepak).
Aaron Alison carried the APG, MSD and Racepak branding into both the Stock and Super Comp classes. An unfortunate red light in round one ended his weekend in the Super Comp car, while the former national event winning Stocker fell to engine woes, before the start of eliminations.
Cameron Ferre, competing at his first US Nationals with his nitro powered A-Fuel dragster, carried all the Racepak, MSD and APG brands into battle. Going into Saturdays last qualifying session, the team sat number 16 out of a field of 23 cars, with a risk of being bumped out of the field. In their last qualifying attempt, Cam rocketed to a 5.27 ET at 274 MPH, moving him to the number one spot. By the end of the session, they landed at the 5th spot, in the top half of the field for eliminations.
During eliminations, Cameron and team, which also includes Victor Garcia (Racepak Sales and Tech employee) marched through some of the toughest racers in the class, on his way to the final round, defeating current world champ Chris Demke and class leader Randy Meyer, in the process.
In the final round, Cameron had a great reaction time off the line but fell a bit short to event winner Joey Severance, overpowering the track and spinning the tires, capping both a great performance weekend for Cameron and a great print, online and TV marketing weekend for all the brands.
